The Dulce Sueno Fair has rolled around again. It will be held March 5 - March 7, 2010. I'm told that it will be shown live on the internet. The main event of course is the Paso Fino, but there will be local music, local cuisine and crafts.......a Real afFair!
Call 787/864-7765 for more details and information. It's held in Parque Ecuestre Dulce Sueno, Guayama, Puerto Rico.
This Fair is named after the great foundation sire, the big daddy of them all, Dulce Sueno, from whom all modern-day paso finos owe many of their goodies.
Dulce Sueno Paso Fino Competition LIVE showing today and tomorrow:
Some photos for everyone's enjoyment of these finely bred, finely stepping Pure Puerto Rican Paso Finos that I love so much. These paso finos are a national treasure in Puerto Rico and to the Puerto Ricans, and with good reason. Until you have them in your backyard, you can't possibly know all the subtle and remarkable nuances they encompass.
Dulce Sueno 2010 Pure Puerto Rican Paso Fino Competition
Such beautiful representation.
Reports from the Dulce Sueno Fair by spectators: They had some very high quality horses from colts, fillies, mares and stallions. The competition was very difficult for judges to decide in some of the classes. The food was very special, and the normally temperate climate was 65 degrees!
I can't wait to attend this event next year.
Beautiful form coming off the sounding board.

Dulce Sueno 2010 continues.....
and continues
Continues, continues
They rode in sun and rain, and the cooler temperatures. Look how wet that board is.
Some of these Pure Puerto Rican Paso Fino horses are just beautiful. By the way, I've noticed some fixed tails, not necessarily in this post of photos here, but in general and overall, and I do wish they would NOT fix the tails....very unnatural looking, not to mention damage to that part of the spine. If the good Lord wanted them to have a crook tail, then he would have made them that way functionally....this is what "true" form to function really means; not man's idea of form to function. They need to be able to lift their tails (with a fixed so-called J-tail they can't) to defacate and urinate (females) and to maintain cleanliness and therefore to remain free of infection in that area and to keep infection from entering the body through those orifices.
More beauty put to the test....
Just...photos. The bottom photo looks like El Conde de Montecristo.
