This is Joaquin Estaban, one of those Mahoma/Hilachas crosses. I think the horse probably is more Mahoma and transmits Mahoma moreso than Hilachas, so he's going under the Mahoma thread. I find the Mahoma lines to be well-conformed for the most part and solid gaiters.

I also think this profile is more Mahoma except through the bottom part of the nose. The photo is also at an angle, showing some of the face on the other side of the nasal bone.

It was said of Mahoma by his original owner in the U.S.A. that he hated being ridden and would pitch a fit the whole time, and he really had to be held in tightly. He was extremely barn sour. When he was going to be ridden, he would have so much anxiety that he would defacate numerous times. I have a Mahoma grandaughter and a great grandson, and they both are like this. My Mahoma granddaughter has a fear of being too close to other horses and getting trapped or cornered. My great grandson does not like to go into any situation where he might be trapped with no way out, and he is a "defacator extraordinaire" when he thinks he's going to be ridden. It's not his favorite thing to do, nor is it my Mahoma granddaughter's. It was also said of Mahoma that he had perfect conformation, which I don't think his conformation was "perfect." If I could fault him, it might be in the hind legs, though much better conformed than Hilachas.

Here's another recent photo of Bristol's Polly (August 27,2010) and her dun colt by a Majestuoso grandson. They look thinner here than they both really are, not sure why, other than the angles. Coco (Bristol's Polly) always photographs thinner - what woman wouldn't kill for that! She's very non-photogenic, but lovely in person.

This colt loves attention and to have his entire face from poll to tip of muzzle rubbed, as well as his shoulders, and hind quarters. He just loves the attention and will follow you around to get it.

Here's another photo of Coco (Bristol's Polly) from 8/01/10. Her torso is a bit longer than it appears in this photo. She has her grandsire's (Mahoma) hind legs (not the best). She is bay with a lot of black-lace overlay. This time of year in the kind of heat and full sun we have, she gets bleached out. In winter, her coat feels like mouton (sheared lamb). It's scrumptious. She will graze all day long in the sun, seeking very little shade, except when she takes a water break. This mare has so much gusto. She was used as a polo pony for children at one time.

Coco will literally hunt for my hands, and try to open my fists, looking for anything edible. She also has tried to stick her nose in my pockets looking for edibles. One time I caught her full-neck in my truck, eating potato chips out of a bag. By golly, she thinks she's human! I imagine some of this comes from the days of being fed by dhildren and whatever they were eating. She is one smart cookie (I guess so, since I'm sure she would eat those too and probably has).

She is one of the sturdiest and hardiest horses I have. These horses bred from these hardy Colombian imports even down to the third generation are the greatest. She has been only on grass and forage for the whole time I've had her, and sometimes hay bales when necessary. Every once in awhile feed along with that, just depending on our drought situation in these parts.

Anyway, the day I took these photos, all of a sudden, Coco decided she wanted to move southward, and she went into a dead-on corto all the way to the pond. The other horses have to keep up with her. She has a tremendous largo. I've never seen this horse do anything other than gait.
